Group Activities

From the traditional and familiar platform of the library, we are reaching out to welcome and support new groups and new activities. We encourage them to grow as part of the range of services we provide or independently through offering lovely place organisations and individuals may hire to launch and develop their own.

Open Sessions

The library is available for anyone to drop in to borrow books, jigsaw puzzles and chat. The kitchen is open for tea, coffee. Volunteers are around to help visitors.

  • Monday 14.00 to 16.00 - Children’s craft available throughout the session.
  • Tuesday 13.30 to 5.30 - Talking Books - A quiet time for adults to discuss books, poetry, art, artists or just for a friendly chat with tea or coffee.
  • Wednesday 10.00 to 12.00 - Community coffee, an opportunity to mix with a group, have a laugh and a chat. There is a craft activity once a month.
  • Thursday 10.00 to 12.00 - Children’s Story Time is at 10.30 – a lively group of pre school children with a story, singing, craft and games to play.
  • Saturday 10.00 to 12.00 - A lively morning with a range of activities.

Puzzle Corner

Our jigsaw club with an excellent selection of traditional and contemporary puzzles. Jigsaws are available from a wide range of manufacturers and represent different degrees of complexity. There is something for everyone.

Puzzles are available for hire with a discount for anyone who is a member of ‘The Friends’. There is no charge for children’s puzzles.


Puzzle Corner

Lego Club

Saturday 11.30 – 13.00 every 2 weeks.

Designed to give children the opportunity to do some creative model-making as well as free-expression building. A fun time with an extensive assortment of Lego plus a range of sets from Lego Friends, Lego City, and a hospital and riding school. These are being regularly updated.

The Lego that we have is suitable for a range of ages.

Busy Bees

Fridays 14.00 to 16.00 except the last of the month.

A social group for people interested in needlecraft who bring their own knitting, crocheting and sewing. With a wide range of expertise in these areas, there is always help with problems and an opportunity to learn new skills.

A warm, vibrant atmosphere with plenty of chatter over tea and biscuits.

Reading Group

Last Friday each month 13:30 to 15.00.

We are a lively, friendly and welcoming group. Each month the members select a book to read and discuss.

Authors have been many and varied, from modern work to the classics and covering from romance to thrillers to comedy and most places in between.

Memory Lane

Second Wednesday each month 13.30 to 15.00

Time to Chat - Memory Lane is an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to join in an enjoyable social afternoon.

There is a good company to share with activities including gentle exercise, puzzles, games and quizzes.
